Bio
Dr. Messersmith’s research and teaching interests lie in the strategic management of human resources and the managerial policies and practices that build successful entrepreneurial companies. Messersmith was recognized as a Kauffman Dissertation Fellow for his research on the effects of management practices on the performance of new ventures. His work has been published in Human Resource Management and the Best Paper Proceedings of the Academy of Management.
Dr. Messersmith completed his Ph.D. in Management at the University of Kansas. While at the University of Kansas Jake was recognized with multiple teaching and research awards including the Ducey Teaching Excellence Award, the Holmes Teaching Fellowship, and the Tollefson Best Paper Award.
Prior to beginning his doctoral work, Dr. Messersmith served as a consultant for Accenture. He worked on IT system development and integration projects in the telecommunications industry. He also holds a B.S. in Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Messersmith is a member of the Academy of Management and the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
